As of April 2025, we are thrilled to announce an updated and expanded benefits package for surrogates. We believe this new compensation structure better reflects the incredible time, effort, and commitment that surrogates invest in helping families grow.
What Makes SPS Compensation Unique?
At SPS, we offer one of the most competitive benefits packages in California. Our goal is to ensure that every surrogate feels valued and supported throughout her journey.
The financial component of surrogacy can provide significant opportunities—whether it’s contributing toward a down payment on a home, paying off debt, or saving for future goals—but it’s also about recognizing the altruistic motivations that inspire surrogates to embark on this life-changing experience.
How Does SPS Determine Compensation?
Compensation is based on the surrogate’s experience and the specifics of her journey. We offer a base fee plus additional allowances to cover expenses and special circumstances.
In addition to the base fee, surrogates get a monthly allowance for unaccountable expenses. There are also extra payments for things like carrying twins, having a C-section, or using approved health insurance for surrogacy.
Our New Compensation Package
As of April 2025, here’s what surrogates can expect from SPS:
Base Compensation
- First-Time Surrogate: $72,000
- Second-Time Surrogate: $82,000
Base compensation is paid in eight monthly installments throughout the pregnancy, ensuring that surrogates get consistent financial support during the journey.
Guaranteed Extras
Surrogates will receive an additional $13,000 in guaranteed extras, which include:
- Monthly Allowance: $300 per month for unaccountable expenses starting at contract signing.
- Support Group Allowance: $100 per month to encourage connection with other surrogates.
- Maternity Clothing Allowance: $1,000 to purchase comfortable clothes during pregnancy.
- Housekeeping Allowance: Up to $175 every other week starting at the 8th week of pregnancy through four weeks postpartum.
- Lost Wages: Paid for doctor-ordered bed rest.
- Partner Lost Wages: Up to 5 days (maximum of $1,500) to ensure your partner can support you during critical moments.
- C-Section Fee (if applicable): $5,000.

The Pamper Package
Surrogates receive up to four allowances during pregnancy to treat themselves—whether it’s a spa day or another indulgence—and an additional allowance after delivery to celebrate with their family.
Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Program
We’ve partnered with Dr. Jessica Chellsen, PT, DPT of Vibrant Coast Physical Therapy to offer customized pelvic floor rehabilitation programs for all surrogates. These evidence-based programs focus on full-body strength and mobility during pregnancy and postpartum recovery.
When Do Surrogates Get Paid?
Payments begin with a generous signing bonus once contracts are signed and legal clearance is issued. Monthly allowances start immediately after entering into contract, and base compensation begins after the first heartbeat confirmation.
