What is a Surrogate?

There are two types of surrogacy: traditional and gestational. At SPS, we exclusively work with gestational surrogates.

A gestational surrogate, also known as a gestational carrier, is a woman who carries and delivers a baby for another person or couple. Unlike traditional surrogacy, the gestational surrogate has no genetic connection to the child. The embryo is created through in vitro fertilization (IVF) using eggs and sperm from the intended parents or donors, and then transferred to the surrogate’s uterus.

Is Surrogacy for me?

Becoming a surrogate is one of the most selfless and rewarding decisions a person can make. However, it’s not a decision to take lightly. It’s crucial to be sure that surrogacy is the right choice for you and your family, and you’re fully prepared for this commitment.

Beyond physical and emotional readiness, it’s important that your motivations are coming from the right place, you have strong support from family and friends, and you’re prepared to navigate the sometimes challenging journey ahead. The process requires dedication and resilience, but it’s deeply fulfilling for those who are truly ready.

What are the qualifications to become a surrogate mother?

You must have had one or more easy pregnancies and deliveries.
You must be between the ages of 21 and 40.
You must have at least one child of your own living with you.
You must be a non-smoker.
You must have reliable transportation.
You must be financially stable.
You must have a desire to help another in a special way.
And you must love being pregnant!

The SPS Compensation Package

SPS offers one of the most competitive benefits packages in California. Our base compensation is $72,000 for first-time surrogates, and $82,000 for surrogates who have had at least one or more journeys.

Our surrogates also receive $13,000 in guaranteed extras, which includes:

– A signing bonus
– Our exclusive pamper package to treat yourself to something special throughout the pregnancy
– A custom health and wellness program with a physical therapist
– A maternity clothing allowance
– A house cleaning allowance once you are pregnant
